What exactly is fiber? Fiber is
the element in plants (like fruits, vegetables and whole grains) that
our bodies do not digest. Fiber is different from most foods that we eat
in that, unlike most foods which are absorbed and digested, fiber is
not absorbed or digested. It actually passes quickly through your
digestive tract, mostly intact, and it is not broken down like other
foods. The fact that fiber is mostly left intact is a good thing as it
creates bulk which aids in moving stool and harmful carcinogens through
the digestive tract. Without enough fiber in your diet, you will have
irregularity, constipation, and sluggishness. Insufficient fiber can
also increase your risk of colon cancer, as well as other serious health
issues.Because fiber helps to move stool through your digestive tract
and colon, it actually helps to prevent colon cancer as it keeps your
colon clean and healthy. Other health benefits of fiber include reducing
the incidence of heart disease, lowering cholesterol, blood pressure,
glucose levels and inflammation, and even weight loss. Fiber can help
with weight loss because it creates a fullness within your intestines
that helps you to eat less. There are two kinds of fiber: soluble and
insoluble”
Forever Fiber makes
it easy to add more fiber to your diet by providing 5 grams of soluble
fiber in each stick-pack. That is the equivalent of almost 1 ½ cups
brown rice or 2 slices of whole wheat toast – without the carbohydrates
and calories! Our forever aloe vera natural heath supplement is a convenient way to increase your overall daily fiber intake and optimize your health.Health Benefits of Fiber
- Blood sugar control: Soluble fiber may help to slow your body's breakdown of carbohydrates and the absorption of sugar, helping with blood sugar control.
- Heart health: An inverse association has been found between fiber intake and heart attack, and research shows that those eating a high-fiber diet have a 40 percent lower risk of heart disease.1
- Stroke: Researchers have found that for every seven-grams more fiber you consume on a daily basis, your stroke risk is decreased by 7 percent.2
- Weight loss and management: Fiber supplements have been shown to enhance weight loss among obese people,3 likely because fiber increases feelings of fullness.
- Skin health: Fiber, particularly psyllium husk, may help move yeast and fungus out of your body, preventing them from being excreted through your skin where they could trigger acne or rashes.4
- Diverticulitis: Dietary fiber (especially insoluble) may reduce your risk of diverticulitis – an inflammation of polyps in your intestine – by 40 percent.5
- Hemorrhoids: A high-fiber diet may lower your risk of hemorrhoids.
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS): Fiber may provide some relief from IBS.
- Gallstones and kidney stones: A high-fiber diet may reduce the risk of gallstones and kidney stones, likely because of its ability to help regulate blood sugar.
